A downloadable soundtrack

This is a submission for "OST Minigame Jam #2" wherein participants are tasked with creating a song inspired by the prompt "The Sky, The Sea". There is an additional optional "Point-Buy Orchestra" challenge wherein each instrument is given a point cost and participants are allotted 15 points to requisition instruments for their orchestra.

I allocated my 15 points as follows:

9Pts for drums, all from the Taiko Creator VST (1 Odaiko, 1 Sanjaku Daiko, 2 Katsugi Okedo Taikos, 2 Shime Daikos). I assumed it would be fine to include rim strikes since they're basically just a kind of drum articulation. When I saw that unpitched percussion was priced at 2 instruments for 3 points, I realized that at 1.5pts each percussion was a cost effective means of filling up the orchestra. Plus, given the thematic prompt, I was reminded of a video of an impressive taiko drum corp performance I had watched awhile back called "The Fertility of the Sea" (it's on youtube) and wanted to do something with taikos.

2Pts for violas. Outside of two moments, I mostly used them for harmonic padding. I chose violas over violins mostly because they were cheaper in this challenge.

2Pts for alto sax. The alto sax provides most of the melody. I went with the saxophones because they kinda' blend the line between wind and horn and, considering the limited point budget, would provide a cost effective means of delivering a rich sonic texture.

1Pt for baritone saxophone.

1Pt for tuba. It was cheap and provides low frequency depth.

DAW: FL Studio

VSTs: Taiko Creator, Session Horns Pro, Audio Imperia Nucleus Orchestral Core.
